Yes, Brett Hearn did indeed win the the overall Mr. DIRT crown for 2013 by finishing ninth in Tuesday’s rescheduled Stars and Stripes 100 for DIRT big-block modifieds at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in Elbridge.
The Mr. DIRT title goes to the driver with the best 16 race finishes from April 1 to Sept. 1. Those finishes can come in races at weekly venues or at Super DIRTcar Series races.
The initial report on syracuse.com about the race late Tuesday night mentioned this fact, but after several calls stating Hearn had not won the crown, the story was adjusted.
A call to Super DIRT Week VP Chris Dolack confirmed that Hearn did win the title.
The Super DIRTcar Series is ongoing and concludes at Charlotte, N.C., in November.
