BRETT HEARN READIES FOR THE 2014 RACING SEASON
Champion driver to race weekly in New York’s Capital District
SUSSEX, NJ (March 30)……..In November 2013, with a win and a second-place finish at the World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway, champion dirt track Modified driver Brett Hearn, of Sussex, New Jersey, wrapped up the Super DIRTcar Modified Series title for the eighth time in his long and illustrious career. This was the capstone on Hearn’s 39th season of professional-level racing that also included the Mr. DIRT Modified Championship and track Modified division championships at Albany-Saratoga Speedway (Malta, New York) and Lebanon Valley Speedway (West Lebanon, New York).
At the end of the 2013 season, Hearn’s career record included 838 feature race victories (503 Big-Block Modified, 333 Small-Block Modified, 2 Sprint Car) at 49 different tracks in 11 states and two Canadian provinces. He has won 82 track and series championships, and earlier in the year was named Area Auto Racing News “50 Years Greatest Driver.”
And as he prepares for the 2014 racing season, his 40th, Hearn says he’s out to win more races and more championships. “Our goal every year is to be prepared to win every race we enter,” says Hearn from his Sussex, New Jersey race car shop. “And with more special races already announced, our entire team is really geared towards a banner year.”
In 2014, Hearn looks to bolster his victory and championships total. He’ll race weekly at two tracks in New York’s “Capital District.” Hearn, a 102-time winner and seven-time point champion at Albany-Saratoga Speedway, will return to the Malta, New York raceway on Friday evenings. On Saturday evenings, Hearn will race at Lebanon Valley Speedway where he owns ten point championship trophies in two divisions. “We really enjoy racing at these two speedways,” says Hearn. “The fans are great, the competition is tough; it’s a challenge every week. But meeting challenges is what our team is all about.”
In addition to weekly competition, Hearn will race throughout the Northeast and neighboring Canada, following the Super DIRTcar Series for Modifieds (SDS), some Super DIRTcar 358 Modified Series events, non-conflicting Race of Champions Dirt Track Modified Series (RoC) and Short Track Super Series races, and selected independent race meets. The Northeast racing season—which actually begins in February in Florida—extends from March through mid-November.
