Super DIRTcar Series returns to Malta for July 30 conclusion of Brett Hearn’s ‘The Big Show 6’

MALTA, N.Y. — July 17, 2014 — For the highly anticipated conclusion of Brett Hearn’s ‘The Big Show 6′ presented by Recovery Sports Grill, Ferris Industries, and VP Race Fuels, Albany-Saratoga Speedway will feature not just one, but two Big Block Modified races Wednesday, July 30.

“We considered a number of options to round out the show that night,” said Super DIRTcar Big Block Modified driver and ‘The Big Show’ event promoter Brett Hearn. “We didn’t want to bring fans all the way out just to see one feature race, and we didn’t want to bring all the series teams back a second time for a single paycheck, so we added a second Big Block Modified show.”

The original running of Brett Hearn’s ‘The Big Show 6,’ scheduled for Tuesday, July 8, was nearing completion when inclement weather moved into the speedway with the last feature of the night on the track. Officials called the Big Block Modifieds of the Super DIRTcar Series off the track with 11 laps of the 100-lap race complete.

Racing Wednesday, July 30, will kick off with the conclusion of this $10,000-to-win feature from lap 11, with Justin Haers aiming to keep his lead over Billy Decker and Danny Johnson. After the Super DIRTcar Series victor is crowned, the Big Block Modifieds will return to the track for a 35-lap show.

“This will be an all-star 35-lapper,” said Hearn. “It’s open to anyone who wants to participate. It’s going to be a great opportunity for Malta’s regular Friday night racers to be part of the event, and a great potential bonus for the series guys making the haul.”

The 35-lap, $2,000-to-win Big Block Modified show will run according to standard Albany-Saratoga Speedway rules. Drivers who participate will be eligible for home track show-up points at Albany-Saratoga.

General admission tickets for the second round of Brett Hearn’s “The Big Show 6″ presented by Recovery Sports Grill, Ferris Industries, and VP Race Fuels, are just $10 each for adults or $2 for children under 12. Grandstand gates open at 5 p.m. and pit gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. For more information about the Super DIRTcar Series, visit superdirtcarseries.com . THE STARS COME OUT FOR THE BIG SHOW 6
Banner Field Expected for Super DIRTcar Modified Series 100
July 8 at Albany-Saratoga Speedway

SUSSEX, NJ (June 7)……..Already there’s a buzz in the air as top Northeast dirt track Modified teams anticipate competing in the Tuesday, July 8 The Big Show 6 Super DIRTcar Modified Series 100 at Malta, New York’s Albany-Saratoga Speedway. “We’ve got 20 teams who are committed to running most of the Series races and when you add in the top weekly competitors from Albany-Saratoga plus several other drivers who have told to me that they’re looking forward to the race, I expect we’ll have the largest field of the summer,” says event organizer Brett Hearn.

“The Big Show 5 was the best Series race last year. I watched the video of the race and—even though I knew I had won it—it had me excited. Any one of four guys could have won that race,” added Hearn. “It’s bound to be just as tough to win it this year.”

Among the drivers already indicating they’ll be out to claim the $10,000 first place prize money are Tim McCreadie as well as all three Gypsum Express team wheelmen Billy Decker, Larry Wight, and Pat Ward. But they’ll have to battle Albany-Saratoga’s tough weekly competitors—Hearn, Marc Johnson, Peter Britten, Ronnie Johnson, Matt DeLorenzo, and Ken Tremont Jr. for top honors.

Group time trials and qualifying heat races will set the field for the 100-lap feature race. And for the first time, the Sportsman will be the evening’s support division. They’ll use timed hot laps to set the fields for a pair of 20-lap races, each with its own purse.

Presented by Recovery Sports Grill Malta, with additional support from Ferris Industries and VP Racing Fuels, The Big Show 6 is bound to be an exciting evening of dirt track racing at its very best.

SPORTSMAN RACERS ADD EXCITEMENT TO THE BIG SHOW 6
Two 20-Lap features for Modified Racing’s “Junior” Division

10441382_846334098727204_7796429550475299284_nSUSSEX, NJ (May 30)……..For the first time, Sportsman division racers will be an integral part of Brett Hearn’s The Big Show 6, presented by Recovery Sports Grill, a midweek special racing program set for Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta, New York. The announcement was made today by event promoter and champion dirt track Modified race car driver Brett Hearn.
“I’m often asked where the next generation of Modified race car drivers will come from,” says event organizer Hearn. “That’s why we’re including the Sportsman division in The Big Show 6. We want to showcase these drivers and their cars—most of them young racers gaining experience before moving up to the Modified ranks. That’s how I started a good many years ago.”
The field for the Sportsman portion of The Big Show 6 will be divided in half for a pair of 20-lap feature races, each with its own payout. All the competitors will register qualifying times during timed hot laps. Then the field will be evenly divided, and the top-12 from each group will redraw for starting positions for the feature races.

This is an open event for all Sportsman cars and will be run under the jurisdiction of the DIRTcar Crate Sportsman rules with one notable exception: rev limiters will not be required. Aluminum wheels may be used and all Sportsman cars may use either the Hoosier DIRT Sportsman tire or the Hoosier 300 or 400 Modified tire.
“The experience of racing in a special event, one with a big crowd in the stands and lots more media attention, is part of a racer’s learning process,” says Hearn. “We’re looking for a great turnout of Sportsman teams for The Big Show 6.”
Headlining The Big Show 6 is a 100-lap Super DIRTcar Modified Series race with all the top Northeast dirt track drivers competing for the $10,000 first prize. Group time trials and qualifying heat races will set the field for the feature race. This will be the third year The Big Show has been held at the four-tenths-mile Albany-Saratoga Speedway. Hearn is not only the event organizer but also was the winner of the race last July.
